Happy December from your favourite festival style function band!
There are many advantages to being one of the UK’s go-to bands for top notch, totally unique wedding entertainment. One such advantage is the amount of travelling we get to do during the summer months – travelling this gorgeous island of ours across the four corners of the compass. We may be a Midlands wedding band, but the summer months see us travelling as far north as Inverness and as far south as Cornwall…even beyond!
This affords us a unique opportunity to unearth the very best of the country. But there’s one county that really caught our eye this summer. We simply cannot get enough of Devon!
It’s hard to find a country more varied in it’s geography than this little jewel of the south west. You’ve got rolling, rugged national parkland alongside stretches of white-sand beaches to rival the best in the world. Not to mention some awesome city-centre locations in cities like Exeter. But it occurs to us that there’s so much more than stunning scenery on offer from a Devon wedding venue. Depending on what you’re after from you’re wedding venue, it can be both easily accessible via the M5 or beautifully cut off from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Our Five Favourite Unique Wedding Venues in Devon
So we thought we’d put you together a little list of five of the very best wedding venues in Devon – five venues that are sure to get you thinking about planning your big day in this charming county. Here we go!
We think Pynes House might be our favourite find of 2019. We played this venue earlier this summer in a double-header with the awesome Devon wedding band One Soul, and we’ve all been absolutely raving about it ever since! This Grade 2 listed manor house just off the M5 is said to have been the inspiration behind Barton Hall in Jane Austen’s, ‘Sense & Sensibility’. The venue itself feels both grand and surprisingly intimate, whilst still being a comfortable fit for larger wedding parties. Plus the venue is super flexible – the pristine gardens are perfect for a marquee summer wedding, and the interior is the ideal location for a crisp winter wedding. If you’re looking for a unique wedding venue in Devon, you MUST check this place out!
Glazebrook House Hotel
Far off the beaten track and hidden from the frenetic hustle and bustle of everyday life is this wonderland of a hotel, a stones throw from Paignton. Glazebrook House Hotel is a fascinating, thought provoking place with a colonial British inspired interior that’s not afraid to push the boundaries and even make fun of itself. You can hire the whole of this remarkable Devon wedding venue for your big day, giving the whole place a truly magical feel. We can’t recommend it enough!
Reed Hall, Exeter
Being one of the busiest Birmingham wedding bands means we know a thing or two about a city centre wedding. We absolutely love them, but finding the right venue can be a troublesome task. Logistically, they can be surprisingly difficult (especially for suppliers and guests driving from out of town). What’s more, lots of city centre venues are multi-purpose buildings and as such it can be tough to find a venue that feels like its really just yours for the day.
Well step forward Reed Hall – one of the few city centre wedding venues that manages to get the balance just right. It’s location just outside of Exeter city centre means it offers all the accessibility of a city venue, whilst maintain the intimacy and panoramic beauty of the countryside. A great find!
Sandy Cove Hotel, Illfracombe
The North Devon coast has, in our humble opinion, some of the most jaw dropping scenery this country has to offer. There’s a veritable cacophony of wedding venues dotted along it’s sandy shores, and a fair share of those are bang average at best, trading off a first class view against sub-standard amenities.
Sandy Cove Hotel is one of the few Devon beach wedding venues that really bucks this trend. This impressive hotel is tasteful and modern whilst managing to remain conciously flattering to it’s surroundings. They offer a range of wedding packages, all of which allow you and your guests to really make the most of the stunning cliff-top surroundings, regardless of the time of year. This place is a photographers dream!
Tracey Estate Parkland & Gardens
Last, but by absolutely no means least, is this incredible garden estate just outside of Honiton. As unique Devon wedding venues go, you’d be hard pressed to find a better one than this. Tracey Estate Parkland & Gardens has been painstakingly and passionately transformed into a high end, standalone wedding venue. Your booking include a fully heated marquee that can seat up to 150 guests through which you can drink in the majestic view of the east Devon hills, stretching out beside you. But the real clincher for us is Tracey Estate’s secret-garden-style outdoor ceremony space, set into the hillside and framed by luscious woodland. Trust us, you won’t want to miss this incredible Devon wedding venue.
So there you have it! Five incredible and unique wedding venues in Devon for your viewing pleasure. And if you’re looking for the perfect wedding band, be sure to give us a call, or chat to the lovely team at Tailored Entertainment to find out what we can do to help. We can’t wait to hear from you!
